Abington Art Center is a community center focused on music, drawing, painting, oil, ceramics, metals, sewing, embroidery, pottery, and jewelry classes. It is an outdoor free concert venue, with theater, dance, jazz, and live music on stage. You can buy gifts, crafts, bracelets, necklaces, and rings at the unique holiday fair.

Summer Camps 2023

Camp runs Monday – Friday
Campers must register for each week they wish to attend.

Camp Withdrawal
&
Transfer Policy

Withdrawals made more than 2 weeks prior to your registered week will result in a full refund less a $25 fee. Refunds will not be given for withdrawals made less than 2 weeks prior to your registered week.

Transfers, based on availability, may be possible for a fee of $15. Deadline for transfer requests is 1 week prior to your registered week.

Vaccinations

All Camps will follow CDC guidelines and PA state regulations. All Campers must show proof of vaccine.

Art Camps

Creative Arts Camps – Ages 4-6
Instructor | Caitlyn Rudolph

Mornings: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

These camps are specially designed for your child’s creative hands and mind. We know how young children love to be introduced to new materials and ideas that fully engage them in the artistic process. Each week kids will create a variety of paintings, drawings, sculpture and more. Halfway through class, students will eat their own snack and take a walk outside on the grounds. Each week lessons are new, so depending on your schedule, feel free to enroll your child in camp throughout the summer.

Work side-by-side with a professional artist to create your own masterpiece. Kids make new friends and together explore both traditional and non-traditional forms of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and more. This is a supportive and nurturing environment where kids receive individualized instruction in our small classes. Projects are both educational and fun; they lead you to discover your own creativity and individuality. Everyone can be an artist with the right encouragement and inspiration.

Clay Camps

Creative Clay & Mixed Media – Ages 7-9 – CAMP FULL!
Instructor | Jeremy Sims

Mornings: 9:00am-12:00pm

The ceramic studio is a fun place to get messy and play with clay. In this safe and nurturing environment learn how to create pinch pots, animals and other inventive characters. We will teach you to get artistic and creative with clay. The second week you will be involved in building sculpture using a mix of materials so that your ceramic pieces can be glazed and fired in the kiln, ready to take home.

$400 for the two week program

Sculpture and Wheel Throwing – Ages 9-12 – CAMP FULL!
Instructor | Aaron Weiner

Afternoons:
1:00pm-4:00pm

Wheelthrowing is a fun and challenging art form that requires focus and discipline. Learn centering and pulling and as your skills develop, create a variety of cups, bowls and vases. This is an opportunity to build work that at the same time is both beautiful and functional. The second week of the workshop is dedicated to creating mixed media sculpture so that your ceramic pieces can be glazed and fired in the kiln.

$400 for the two week program

Comics/Illustration Camp

Comics and Illustration Camp – Ages 12 – 16
Instructor | Jason Jenkins

Mornings: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Afternoons:
 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Discover how to tell stories using your creativity and drawing skills. You will explore a variety of styles, templates, and mediums to create your own narrative artwork. To aid in crafting your own story, you will also study the work of many artists and the techniques they use, providing strong foundational knowledge to help you become a Comics Artist or Illustrator.

$350 per week, full day (includes one hour break)

Acting Camps

Acting Camp – Ages 9-16 CAMP FULL!

Mornings: 9:00am-12:00pm

Encounter lessons, activities, and games that explore basic acting techniques, character development, and script analysis. Throughout each day, campers will strengthen their abilities as an ensemble (working with the whole group) as well as honing personal skills (working in smaller groups according to age). Our intention is for students to gain confidence in themselves, knowledge and experience in their acting, provide a place to express their creativity, and have a ton of fun in the process! We will rehearse for a small presentation at the end of camp for which parents and family members are invited to attend.

Musical Theater Camp – Ages 9-16 – CAMP FULL!

Afternoons:
 1:00pm-4:00pm

Sing and dance to your favorite Broadway showtunes! We learn music, staging, and choreography both as solo-work and as an ensemble. Students gain self-assurance in their performing as well as a self-confidence that they can keep for a lifetime. Our work during camp will be highlighted in an exciting showcase at the end of camp.
