Joy E. Stocke, author of Tree of Life: Turkish Home Cooking will gather the flavors from a grand diaspora that spans from Persia to the Aegean, for a step-by-step main course menu. Dishes include “Chicken Thighs and Breasts stuffed with Feta”, “Preserved Lemon and Mint”, “Herbed Bulgur Pilaf”, “Cacik-cucumber-yogurt sauce” and “Sakir’s Mother’s Beets” – a recipe that originated in a home near the Syrian border. Talk about family roots and food traditions while learning techniques such as preserving lemons – a simple technique with a long shelf life that yields grand flavor. Stocke will provide recipes and sources for ingredients.
