Katie Schweitzer is a multidisciplinary artist and high school art teacher based in Philadelphia, PA. In 2018 she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she majored in Fiber and concentrated in Ceramics. Immediately after, she entered into MICA’s 5th Year Master of Arts in Teaching program where she earned her degree in 2019. Katie enjoys making art that explores the degradation of memory and the concept of home via constructed and/or useless comfort objects. While quilting is Katie’s preferred form of making, she loves handbuilding with clay and learning new material processes. When she isn’t teaching you can find Katie taking pilates classes, baking, solving a crossword puzzle, or binge-watching reality tv.
