I believe that in teaching art one must first understand the creative process; both teacher and student must be open to the give and take process. Each individual, no matter age, mental status or physical capabilities is a sponge waiting to absorb all information and also release information. It is this process that I believe is the basis of training the eye and hand to move and create. The student/Artisan is asked to bring all of his or her talent to the table and the instructor is asked to do the same to enrich the creative experience- always giving and sharing ideas and thoughts. Lastly, in the creative space, all participants are encouraged to add to the creative atmosphere by way of open critiques, and actual studio work in order to build and enhance the fundamentals of CREATIVITY. I am very much interested in establishing a dialogue rather than a monologue to establish and push the notion of Mark Making.
