Abington Art Center is a community center focused on music, drawing, painting, oil, ceramics, metals, sewing, embroidery, pottery, and jewelry classes. It is an outdoor free concert venue, with theater, dance, jazz, and live music on stage. You can buy gifts, crafts, bracelets, necklaces, and rings at the unique holiday fair.

Registration Deadlines

Registration closes when a class fills or the day before the class begins.

Age Restrictions – 16+

Students who are age 16 and older are eligible to register for adult classes. Ages 15 and younger must register for a  YOUTH CLASS.

Throwing & Handbuilding |  Linda Johnson
Tuesdays 1:00 – 4:00pm
January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, March, 1, 8, 15

For potters of all levels and abilities who want to perfect their skills in handbuilding or wheel throwing to create an array of ceramic pieces such as cups, bowls, or sculpture. Experiment with surface design in order to improve the quality of your work. By repeating the class, the more accomplished you will become at the craft.

Ceramic tools and clay are purchased separately.

Advanced Ceramics |  Riley Strong
Thursdays 1:00pm – 4:00pm
January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, 24, March 3, 10, 17

Develop a personal vision and aesthetic to make art from craft. This class will provide the specific instruction from the instructor for advancing your work to a higher level. You will work independently, but the class will be encouraged to provide peer feedback and support.

Ceramic tools and clay are purchased separately.

Wheel Throwing | TBA
Wednesdays 6:30pm – 9:30pm
January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, 23, March 2, 9, 16

Study the basics of wheel throwing and learn to make a variety of both decorative and functional mugs, cups, bowls, vases, and more. Utilize surface decoration techniques to enhance your creations. This course is open to the beginner on the potter’s wheel as well as the more experienced student.Ceramic tools and clay are purchased separately.

Surface Design Techniques

Surface Design| Linda Johnson
Tuesdays 6:30pm – 9:30pm
January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, March 1, 8, 15

This course will explore various techniques to embellish the surface of your ceramic creations.

Techniques will include, illustrating with texture, sgraffito, using resists, monoprinting and combining techniques to create unique surfaces.

If you are registering a child or someone else, click Add to Order, fill out the form with your registrants’s information under “Add New Registrant,” and click “Create Registrant.” Select the person you wish to register before checking out or adding additional classes.

Please Note: The Registration Portal shows all classes available currently at AAC, including Adult classes. If you do not see a description for a class on this webpage, it is most likely an  ADULT CLASS or a SUMMER CAMP.
