Svenska enkelhet – simplicity and clarity – are principles embraced in art and architecture that provide the foundation for the design of a meaningful table-scape. Different and varying materials impart a particular feel as you set the table: metal, glass, wood, mirror or plastic evoke distinct feelings, to be enhanced and complimented by your choice of wine and food. This course provides essential techniques for creating an original stage for home or event entertaining and create three table-scapes: one in wood, one in white leather, and one in mirror. Christopher Carlson brings years of experience in product development – collaborating with designers from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland – into creating some of the most highly acclaimed events in the entertaining business. Carlson has been designing and directing events since 1989; his clients have included high profile CEOs and academy award-winning actors. While working for Great Performances, the largest event company on the East Coast, Christopher founded the University of Service and Design, leading seminars in high-end design and service. In 2016, the school was awarded Program of the Year by the Philadelphia chapter of the National Association for Catered Events [NACE].
