Altered realities from found photographs and mixed media.
Abington Art Center continues its tradition of exhibiting emerging regional artists with a new exhibition featuring Athena Petra Tasiopoulos. The show will feature recent work by the artist, showcasing her unique photography.
Athena Petra Tasiopoulos is an artist and photographer. Her works are mixed media composites from found imagery, reminiscent of traditional collage techniques. Tasiopoulos creates new works that explore the fragility of the images and relieves them from the constraints of a particular time and place. The prints are hand embellished with graphite, watercolor, and acrylic. Drawing from religious iconography as inspiration, Tasiopoulos seems to create works that both resonate with and modernize the essence of the past.
Taisopoulos has been selected as a featured artist in several exhibitions including the Philadelphia Sketch Club and in Chester County Library. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Photography at the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
