Forever Young, Celebrating Seven Decades of Art

The Abington Art Center presents “Forever Young, Celebrating Seven Decades of Art” a group exhibition of contemporary art installations surrounded by an historical timeline that tells the early story of the organization as it transformed from the Old York Road Art Guild into Abington Art Center, a museum, Sculpture Park, studio school and cultural center. Artists in “Forever Young” include: Astrid Bowlby, Syd Carpenter, Patti Dougherty, Michael Grothusen, Jeanne Jaffe, Ron Klein, Stacy Levy, Martha Kent Martin, Winifred Lutz, Deirdre Murphy, Judith Scheachter, and Chris Zmijewski, among others.

Free Guided Sculpture Park Tours

Enjoy a free guided tour of our Sculpture Park with one of our docents. Tours are offered Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 1pm. No appointment necessary. See our new exhibition “Endurance: Visualizing Time”. Tours start June 6 and run through September 27.

Snacks and refreshments and a new extended menu are also available for purchase from the Trolley Car Diner. Mango Men has become one of the most requested bands in the Philadelphia area, with their energetic, interactive performances of Jimmy Buffett covers and today’s Country and Classic Rock tunes. This is a rain or shine event. FREE – Donations appreciated.

Shakespeare in the Park • A Mid Summer Night’s Dream

A Mid Summer Night’s Dream with Commonwealth Classic Theatre is a disconcerting memory of a misguided romantic romp in a fairy-haunted wood. This uproarious comedy is full of mayhem and madness. Kid Fest & Concert with Dog on Fleas

Dog on FleasKidFest 2009 will fill the Sculpture Park grounds with art activities, family-friendly fun and a concert by Dog on Fleas (at 6:30). Snacks and refreshments and a new extended menu are also available for purchase from the Trolley Car Diner. Dog on Fleas makes music for kids, and people who used to be kids. They play intelligent, gutsy music and they revel in diverse sounds and styles of music. Rain or Shine. Admission is FREE, but art activities range from $2 to $10 for an art pack.

The Philadelphia Blues Messengers take the stage with their rock-solid innovative Philadelphia blues. They’ve established their reputation as a good-time jam band by playing and singing with artists like Muddy Waters, Little Walter, and Elmore James. This is a rain or shine event. Movies Under The Stars- Fantasia (rated G)

Gather with the Hiway Theatre and other movie fans to enjoy Fantasia in the Sculpture Park. Disney animators interpreted classical music (provided by the Philadelphia Orchestra) in this ground-breaking movie circa 1940. Surreal fantasy and playful escapism comes to the Sculpture Park. Movies start at dusk (approximately 8pm.) FREE
