Art and Nature: Environmental Sculpture

Informed Perception

This course introduces participants to the objective method for the appreciation of the art in art and in everyday experiences. Developed by Dr. Albert Barnes and Violette de Mazia, this method allows students to experience works of art directly, make aesthetic discoveries, and undertake personal and independent analyses of works of art. Forty-two Act 48 credit hours are provided through the sponsorship of the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts upon completion of this course. Waterbased Printmaking

Creating monotypes is a great way to get spontaneous and immediate results. Collagraphs give you varied textures and surfaces that roll through the press and transfer onto your paper. Basic Drawing

Painting with Color

For artists of all levels and abilities, develop your skills working with oil paint. This medium produces rich, vivid colors that can rarely be achieved with acrylic paint. From Artwork to Digital Files: A Step by Step Guide

Learn the simple four-step method for creating accurate digital files of your 2D artwork. Mike, from Profiles Studio in Chestnut Hill, will teach you how to set up your digital camera and lighting; then see how to use Photoshop to correct files for accurate color and contrast, to crop images and to size files for uploading online.
