GOOGLE’s in the House… Say What?

Friday, February 18th, 2011

There are thousands of great works of art scattered across the globe. Getting around to seeing all those paintings and sculptures is no easy task.  Maybe you do not have the money or the time to fly to Amsterdam and admire the works of Van Gogh.  For those of you who have been unable to visit some incredible art museums, you now have the opportunity to do just that.

Google has recently launched the Art Project, which gives you the ability to walk through seventeen different art museums located throughout the world.

Through this website, you can either choose to simply look at the artwork, or explore the museum itself. You can move yourself through the museum, and admire the artwork on the walls. It’s almost as if you were actually in the museum itself! You can also get up close and personal with the artwork by zooming in to eat picture, making it easier to notice little details and such. Not only that, but you can create your own virtual art gallery, by selecting your favorite paintings from the large collections the museums offer.

So what are you waiting for?  Museums such as the Museum Kampa in Prague and Uffizi Gallery in Florence are just a click away.  Kick back, relax, and get ready to enjoy some of the worlds’ most amazing artistic treasures. Head to www.googleartproject.com.
