Don’t Yell Avalanche!
~ In a section of the Abington Art Center there is a massive display of colorful panels made with an innovative combination of casein, resin, and decorated fabric. The colors throughout the panels are rich yet earthy, which gives the room a glossy warm glow. As you stand in the center of the room facing east you can appreciate the mixture of blue-violet colors that flow onto several panels. And on the west side, the multi-colors panels (Titled, Avalanche) are bursting throughout each panel. Therefore, each side stirs a different emotion and reaction.
~ The creator of the giant, colorful, digitalized squares of material is also giving a social commentary. This artist, EJ Herczyk, questions the impact of technology on society. The different mediums, combined into one piece, symbolize how “organic and artificial identities emerge…”
The project, is funded as part of PNC Arts Alive, a five-year, $5 million investment from The PNC Foundation that supports visual and performing arts groups with the goal of increasing arts access and engagement.
