Check out the tiles on the Wall! On the east side wall of the entrance to the Abington art center there is a display of 49 blocks consisting of works from a group MamaCita.
MamaCita is a mothers’cooperative in the arts - who came together under the guidance of Melisa Tevere. This Saturday, December 11th, MamaCita will be featured at the Community Gallery. Many of he blocks are shrunken down versions of actual paintings featured at the show.
When I entered the Community Gallery a sensation of warmth and emotion will appeal to any visiting guest (even if they’re not mothers!). Majority of the works are paintings, but there were also photographs, textiles, and tile works. The art portrays many of the struggles and joys of a mother’s live, causing the audience to experience an array of motherly emotion.
